2020 Reserve Barbera "La Superiore"
Tasting notes
After years of making a classic Italian-style Barbera, Lorenzo and Mark saw the great potential for a true Reserve style of this outstanding varietal. In 2020 to create this wine,we carefully farmed our top hill vineyard, keeping the yields low to deliver an intense and complex fruit. The wine was fermented in small oak tanks and then aged in french barrels for 24 months.
Deep ruby red color with garnet highlights, a rich and complex fruit bouquet with vanilla, licorice, and cocoa background. Full-body red wine with a great structure, yet elegant and sensual, harmonious and persistent finish.

This is a nicely balanced Barbera filled with voluptuously ripe boysenberry, blackberry, black currant and plum, complemented by herb and spice notes of cinnamon, star anise, fennel, tarragon and roses. Fine-grained, friendly tannins gently coat the palate, balanced by a modest dose of acidity and leading toward a medium-length finish. — Stacy Briscoe
